Try EMDR THERAPY AT HOME

TRY EMDR THERAPY AT HOME

If you’re struggling with anxiety, past traumas, depression or a sense of stuckness, perhaps you should consider Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy or EMDR as it is called for short. It is a kind of fairly out there treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.

The dual activity of thinking about a distressing memory and rapidly moving the eyes from side to side appears to reduce the level of emotion in the memory. Loads of people are reporting benefits from the exercise today. Many people believe everyone can emdr therapy at home and youtube has tons of info on the subject. You can walk through a forest with loads of trees wizzing by and get a release that is similar to what you would get from doing EMDR in a therapeutic environment. What we do know is that at the end of the day all therapy is more or less the same. You swop the bad for the good. You become more aware and conscious of what is going on and heal from that standpoint. If you fear elevators you need to confront them. So it is with trauma and anxiety too. When you dream your eyes make the same movements. It may just be to declutter the garbage and allow for more awareness. CBT after all is just about swopping bad for good. So keep it simple in your head.

EMDR is a therapy in which a trained therapist works with a client to address the disturbing memory or thought that triggers anxiety by reducing the emotional, mental, and physical reaction to it. Over the course of multiple sessions, the therapist and client work together to improve symptoms of anxiety and replace the negative feelings associated with the memory with a positive thought to undo the trauma it has caused.

First to emdr therapy at home use this short and light version of the EMDR exercise below as a way of getting familiar with the basics of the benefits of EMDR therapy. If there is a glimmer of success with it, then it ma be time to call an EMDR therapist and work through your traumas and anxiety. Remember this. You cannot sweep anything under the rug! You have to deal with the good and the bad in life and then move forwards and grow form there. Life is doing you as much as you are doing life! It demands we grow and contribute to this world. This one we call optic flow mindyoga.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.  When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound.  If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.

If you try EMDR therapy at home it should at least demonstrate that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes.  The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health.  If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  OPTIC FLOW can be defined as the motion of all the surface elements from the visual world. As you move through the world, the objects and surfaces within the visual environment flow around you.

As requested by some of our followers, here is a longer 25 minute uninterrupted version of the EMDR therapy session that is self administered. Also known as a lateral eye movement exercise. Non traditional therapy by nature it is used for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as well as anxiety. It can assist in helping you out of survival mind or lizard brain and is best used with a trained therapist, although everyone is different. Always consult your doctor before tying out something new and read our disclaimers carefully https://markllockwood.com/about-the-c…

EMDR movements for example dampen the power of emotionally charged memories of past traumatic events. This has been researched at Stanford University and the help it provided to people with Trauma and Addictions and the worlds number one disorder, Depression. Emotions, Visions, Auditory memory and even the feelings we get in the pits of our stomachs are now becoming therapeutic science. Self regulation and mind hacks are here to stay. People need to change and in the modern world today we need to nurture self love more than anything else. #emdr #ptsd
