A team of ten professionals with over 30 years of combined experience at our Depression Wellness Center may be just what you need to get your life back on track. So many people are suffering with burnout, anxiety, depression and mood disorders. Trouble with relationships, divorce, work and career stress and having to deal with family, friends and peers is a serious task for us today. We are stretched for time and other resources. Expectations on each of us are higher than ever and so are the demands we place on ourselves.
A mental health crisis that is escalating around the world is scientific evidence enough that something needs to change. We need to start to learn to look after ourselves. We have to nourish our emotions, mental and physical health as if our lives depended on it – because they do!
People used to take a three week vacation at the end of the year to sit on the beach and try and think of nothing and do nothing. No longer does that suffice for most of us. We are pressured to work longer hours. We work evenings and spend time on the weekends getting work from the week done. Today we need to make sure to take at least three weeks of time to work on our emotional and spiritual health. Not as an option, but as a necessity. We cannot simply hit the go peddle all the time and expect great results. The tanks need to be refuelled and the engines need down time. Body, heart and mind all work together at an astonishingly high level today to make sure that we are able to pursue our tasks, goals and dreams to the maximum level. However life, as well as the body, heart and mind, are all about balance. Yin and Yang. Rest and go, or zeros and ones.
We have been very slow to grasp this little scientific principle. At first all go and no stop, or all work and no play don’t hit us with any negative consequences. At least not for a while. By the time we realize we are burning the candle at both ends we’re usually burnout already. By the time we recognise depression, anger issues, over indulgence and the like it is normally too late for a quick turn around. The brain gets hardwired on fight, flight and freeze mode all too often today and the result is we eventually feel like we are at war with other people, and with the world itself. We slowly start disasterising and talking negatively. We moan about the fuel prices and the electricity crisis, the wife, the economy, Trump and the school teacher. As we do so we add thoughts, feelings and emotions associated with imminent attack and we go into over defence mode. Defence mechanisms activate to keep us safe. When they do activate however there is no off switch. We stop sleeping, and our fuse gets shorter and we drink more or take more painkillers or sleeping pills. However these early signs are nothing. They culminate into heart attacks, chronic depression and even behavioural issues like divorce and job loss that we study at our private depression clinic.
It is time we start to put two and two together and play the movies we create in our minds through to the end. Self regulation may be an art, but it is also becoming necessary for happiness and survival. No longer can we underestimate the impact of how we run our lives on our emotional and mental wellbeing.

Going on a wellness retreat, taking a meditation course or doing some online studies on self-regulation, transcendence or the heart-math connection may save your life, and resurrect your soul. Life is about more than just work and achieving goals and today we need to remind ourselves of this fact every single day. No longer can we be swept away by distraction and not pay the price for our lack of self care.
So remember this as we teach it at our Depression Wellness Center. 98 percent of people are spending 98 percent of their time on things that don’t really matter. We are distracted by people, places and things that we shouldn’t allow to distract us. We should be not only preserving and loving ourselves but we should stop and contemplate what is really important in our lives. We need to think about what we need to do to grow and then keep growing. Just as in business, we are either growing or dying.
Meditation, exercise, balance and contemplative practices bring growth. Thus we should stop the glorification of being busy! Work on your body, mind, emotions and spiritual self in equal parts. Don’t just work on the easy ones that you are used to working on. We fire and wire on what we did yesterday so if you are planning to make any changes know that they won’t be easy and that they will take discipline and consistency to make them stick. We use CQ meditation work several times a week at our Center for Healing and Life Transformation. They lower blood pressure, decrease anxiety and depression, improve sleep, mood and even impulse control and all that is just for starters. The meditation and contemplation techniques we use bring people into harmony with their higher selves and it is from this perspective of the true self that they find direction, joy and life purpose.
